Blue Hummingbird Creations
A Little About Me:
For years I've enjoyed the beautiful and unique handmade embroidered cards that my mother, Jeanne, sent me from Quebec. When I visited a few summers ago, I was finally able to see her at work. Since she taught me how to knit as a small child, it seemed only natural that she'd also initiate me into the art of doing 'embroidery on paper'. What I did not expect was how passionate I would become about it. Since then, I have a piece of stitching in my hands every chance I get! It's hard to describe the deep sense of joy, peace and satisfaction that embroidery on paper gives me; not only is it a delightful means to be creative, but also to meditate and practice mindfulness.
As my cards, bookmarks and mandalas quickly began to accumulate, I decided to offer them at local craft fairs and markets over the recent Holidays. I'd much rather that my embroidered pieces be enjoyed by others and shared with their loved ones than have them sitting at home in a drawer. I was pleasantly surprised by the positive response! I feel blessed to have been passed on such a wonderful art by my mother for more reasons than I can count, but to see someone's face light up when they see my embroidery, well, that's really the cherry on the cake!
My creativity has taken an exciting new direction in the last few months. Drawing on my past experience as a chef, I now also make essential oil synergy roll ons and personal inhalers, and natural perfumes. My partner, Don, has even joined me in helping make colloidal silver products, as well as diffuser jewelry.

Design Your Own Diffuser Necklace
As I mentioned in my last post, I've recently come up with a kinda novel concept I'm really excited about. But before I tell you all about it, here's how the idea came to life...
High Quality European Leather Cord - 1.5mm
Next, pick among an assortment of beautiful diffuser lockets made from stainless steel or antique silver:
I fell in love a while back with some wonderful Greek leather cord that comes in a gorgeous array of colors with an interesting vintage hand dyed finish. While making Diffuser Necklaces - necklaces fitted with a special locket equipped with either a lava
stone or a colorful pad on which you can place 1 or 2 drops of your favorite
essential oil - it occurred to me that with such a variety of cords and lockets, a person might feel really drawn to a particular pendant, but prefer a different cord color or size. As a matter a fact, I recently had a customer ask me if she could switch the cord that came with her pendant. I just 'knew' that this was just bound to be a recurring occurrence. Hum, what to do?
After pondering the issue, it came to me that I could simply let people design their own Diffuser Necklace, so that it's exactly how they want it to be. Lord knows it's not a completely new idea; ice cream parlors will let you assemble your own dream sundae or a pizza joint have you choose your favorite toppings. "Why not transpose the concept to jewelry," I thought? Are you with me so far?
Here's a sample of the various leather cords and pendants you'll be able to choose from when designing your own Diffuser Necklace:
First, choose from a large selection of lovely, supple European leather that I've already fitted with silver plated clasps:
High Quality European Leather Cord - 1.5mm
2mm High Quality European Leather Cord:
3mm High Quality European Leather Cord:
3mm Braided Bolo Genuine Leather Cord:
Next, pick among an assortment of beautiful diffuser lockets made from stainless steel or antique silver:
And lastly, choose between a lava stone...
... or a set of several colorful pads to use inside your locket.
And tada; you have a stunning Diffuser Necklace designed just to your liking! You're now ready to add 1 or 2 drops of your favorite essential oil or blend, secure the locket and enjoy its fragrant scent all day!
Here are just a few examples of the possible Diffuser Necklaces you could make.
A little close up so you can see the pendants better...

Embroidered Christmas Cards
I've already shared some pictures of my embroidered cards, bookmarks and mandalas in this post, but I thought I should create a post featuring my Christmas cards as well. There are so many wonderful patterns, but here is a small sample.
Like I said, sooooo many endearing designs! Which one would you pick for your loved ones?
